It's 2009. Whether you believe that the end is nigh (or not), energy is
undoubtedly being used by all of us in the modern world at a prodigious rate and
it’s hard to imagine a reason not to save energy where we can.
We're all encouraged to recycle at home, turn off the lights and lap up the
local countryside instead of lounging in the Med but it’s easy to forget to
apply similar practices at work. IT of course is an enthusiastic consumer of
energy in any business and at OLT we’re very keen to encourage all our clients
to look at the energy use within their companies.
As part of this mission, we are supporting the NOT STUPID campaign and have
developed a short questionnaire to raise awareness of ways in which technology
can be used to save energy and reduce its own energy consumption.
- Are you aware of the energy used by your office at midday and midnight?
- Can you give an approximate figure for the amount of electricity used in your
office at these times?
- Do you know how much energy is used when your computer is:
- Running
- Running but with the monitor off
- Suspended / Sleeping
- Hibernated
- Off
- Do you turn your computer off at night? Over the weekend?
- Would you like to win an energy monitor for your office?
To discuss how to OLT can help you to answer these questions and reduce your
energy consumption, either to save the plant or to reduce your electricity
bills, please contact us on 020 7043 7044 or email
